Creative director at Bioware, Mac Walters, has suggested that more Mass Effect games could follow in Mass Effect Andromeda’s wake.
It’s been speculated that Andromeda could be the last game to bear the name. BioWare has already stated that it isn’t the part of a new trilogy, and it features a complete story arc that is self-contained.
However, Walters just has openly suggested on Twitter that BioWare has been planning for “future adventures” in the game’s universe.

It seems that we shouldn’t count out Andromeda 2, or something similar, quite yet. The upcoming game takes place in a brand new galaxy which the races of the Milky Way have taken hundreds of years to reach. Players will control one of two new characters: Scott or Sara Ryder, in their quest to safeguard humanity’s future.
“At the end of this, we want it to feel like a story has completed,” said Walters of Andromeda. “Yes, for the universe, there’s much more you could explore, and we want to tease that, but it feels like its own story. It’s like, ‘Great. I had my Ryder sibling becoming-a-hero story. What’s next? Is it going to be Ryder? Is it going to be something else? Who knows?'”
Andromeda will be hitting shelves in early 2017, and bring with it a slew of changes to the Mass Effect franchise including significant updates to combat, classes, and the way quests and environments are structured.
