Dishonored 2 has failed surpass its predecessor in the UK charts, debuting at number four.
According to the UKIE charts composed by GfK Chart-Track, sales of Dishonored 2 are down 38% compared to the original. It’s disappointing news for Arkane, the game’s developer, though the game has proven a hit with critics, sweeping up numerous 9/10 scores and emphatic plaudits.
The original game was released in April 2013 when there was likely less competition in terms of other titles. Dishonored 2 sits behind Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, FIFA 17, and Battlefield 1 in the UK charts – nothing to be ashamed of. Another partial explanation for the drop in sales could be the continued shift to digital downloads. Dishonored 2 is being distributed via Steam and Valve doesn’t openly distribute sales data.
