Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon will soon be free on PC

Far Cry: 3 Blood Dragon is the next PC game to be given away as part of Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Ubi30 has already seen a cluster of Ubisoft classics including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Beyond Good and Evil appear as free downloads. One game has been available each month since June, with Blood Dragon filling the November slot.

Ubisoft announced the news on Twitter, with a delightful video from the game’s Creative Director.

“Tropicopopalypse.” Great work Mr Evans.

Downloading the game is (sort of) easy. You’ll need to download Uplay, Ubisoft’s game management client, and register an account. Once the game is linked to your account, it’s yours to keep forever.

There’s only one month left to go in the Ubi30 festivities, which leaves one final free game for PC players to grab. Ubisoft has clearly thought about the scheduling; Beyond Good and Evil’s free month coincided with the announcement of a sequel / prequel.

Hmm, if only Ubisoft was releasing material linked to an iconic IP in December. That would be perfect.

Yep, our bets are on the original Assassin’s Creed as next month’s freebie for several reasons. Firstly, the new live-action adaption starring Michael Fassbender is hitting cinemas mid-December. Secondly, giving away the original game doesn’t tread on the toes of Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, which begins at the second game in the series.

We’ll have to wait and see. The current free Ubi30 game, Beyond Good and Evil, can still be downloaded for free until Blood Dragon takes its place on November 9.
